If yesterday was Romelu Lukaku-day, today at Napoli is the day of Scott McTominay. Today, in fact, the Scottish midfielder will fly to Italy to undergo medical tests with the Neapolitan club, after all the final agreements were reached in the last few hours, both between the player and Napoli and between Napoli and Manchester United.
McTominay was initially supposed to arrive yesterday, but the two clubs had to sort out the paperwork and so his arrival was delayed by a few hours. Everything was done yesterday and so today the ’96-born player will be able to reach the Belpaese for the usual bureaucratic process: medical visits and signature, all in one day. Deal confirmed: 30 million euros in the coffers of Manchester United.
Rio Ferdinand’s words on the sale of McTominay.
“Scott McTominay is an exceptional player, but it is clear that not everyone can be a star. Players like him are always important for the team, like in my time. Players like McTominay know the DNA of Manchester United, they grew up in the youth sector and have always played here. I do not understand his sale and to replace him Manchester will have to spend 30-40 million pounds and pay an expensive salary. McTominay on the other hand for me is a certainty, he is a solid element and capable of ensuring goals”.
