Against the Palermo the second defeat in the first three days of the Serie B championship has arrived for the Cremonese Of John Stroppa. In the post-match at the ‘Zini’ the grey-red sports director also spoke in the press room Simone Jacket. Here’s what the club’s official channels reported:
For Cremonese many shots of which few on target, for Palermo the opposite. Cremo seems to have the same problem with goals as last season…
“Yes, but last season we reached the playoff final… I wish this was the path. I think it was the best Cremonese since the beginning of the season, we saw each other again and recognized what we did last year. It’s a great disappointment for this defeat, because it comes against a team that was credited with the final victory. We faced them and we had certainties, but there is disappointment for the defeat. Perhaps the result is also due to some refereeing decisions: it’s sad to talk about it, but it’s part of the game and can be as decisive as a player’s choices. This evening some plays were decisive against us, like on the occasion of Majer’s goal: we can’t understand why it was disallowed. As well as on some occasions in the middle of the field that gave Palermo the chance to catch their breath and avoid dangers at birth and an attitude that annoyed like the second thoughts before extracting cards and then questionable warnings against us. We leave with this disappointment, because we are not exactly lucky with Palermo. Last year in the first leg a goal by Coda was disallowed due to a strange offside… This year it’s bad news for us, never mind”.
Last season the team struggled to score. Despite the arrival of four attackers, two players already in the squad took to the field…
“These are technical choices made by the coach, who always works to field the best team. Our squad is made up of many excellent players and any choice can provoke comments towards others, it is part of the role. Regardless of the chances created, it remains a performance that must be sustained day by day, the players are improving in condition and this is important. We are not making a sprint start, but the championship has just begun and has four games played during the transfer window. From a technical point of view, we do not feel defeated, but the result penalises us a lot. We accept it and prepare immediately for the challenge against Sassuolo”.
Do you foresee further reinforcements to modify the squad?
“We can also strengthen it by thinning it out, we will see what to do in these last few days. The market is slow compared to previous years, Cremonese has made excellent deals and will now file down the elements in the squad”.
