De Zerbi: “If I’m happy, no one will take me away from Brighton. But if I’m not…”

In the last few hours, Brighton organized a public forum in which manager Roberto De Zerbi also participated, accompanied at the event by the CEO of the English company Paul Barber. During the chat, De Zerbi, coach also in the Milan orbit in these convulsive hours in which the Rossoneri are looking for a replacement for Stefano Pioli starting from next season, was asked for a few words of reassurance on his future at Brighton.

And De Zerbi responded like this: “Do you want the truth? I’m not working for my career, but to wake up happy in the morning. And if I’m happy in the future at Brighton, there won’t be a team that can take me away if I don’t want to. But if I’m not happy in the morning, if I don’t feel the motivation to work like last season and also this season, this can change because I wouldn’t be able to give my best. If I can, I can push the players to do the same, otherwise it is difficult. I can’t change my face, if I don’t feel something strong, that goes beyond work, it becomes hard.” An answer that left some of those present amazed.

Barber immediately intervened: “Don’t worry, I’ll bring him a cappuccino and a croissant every morning… Whatever he needs.” And at that point De Zerbi, jokingly, replied: “There isn’t enough cappuccino…”.
