Naples, Pioli’s idea resists but the first two on De Laurentiis’ list are Gasperini and Conte

Napoli wants to restart after a difficult season and the first issue to be resolved will be that relating to the new coach. An important necessity given the wrong choices this season, which have ruined a club that only a year ago became Italian champions with full merit and which today is ninth in the table, 39 points from the top.

The name of Stefano Pioliwho has now reached the end of his Rossoneri experience, is always present in the Campania club’s list but there are two main candidates: Gian Piero Gasperini and Antonio Conte. As Corriere dello Sport reports, “time seems to have stopped and yet many things have happened: undertakings, goals, dreams and a Scudetto which will soon become an objective again”. To start again, therefore, Aurelio De Laurentiis would be thinking above all of the Atalanta coach, who had sat – albeit only virtually – on the Napoli bench for a few hours in 2011, before the twist with the renewal of Walter Mazzarri.

Thirteen years later Gasp is still Gasp, indeed more than before, because the years in Bergamo have certified his qualities, the same ones that lead him to the top of the Napoli president’s preferences for the choice of the new coach. But Gasperini is not the only one, he is not the only one. Next to him, in this soon to be decisive sprint, is Antonio Conte, De Laurentiis’ friend, already tested in Garcia’s turbulent months.
