The striker Eder leaves football, with the last match of his career scheduled for tomorrow between his Criciuma and Atletico Mineiro. This is his thought for Sky Sports: “I have decided to stop, a difficult decision but at 38 years old I think that football is at a level that is going too fast for me and my pain. In Brazil there are many matches and many trips, if you are not well it is better to stop”.
A particular memory of Italy?
“I don’t want to leave anyone behind, all the experiences have been special. I arrived at Empoli as a kid, Frosinone made me show my football, Brescia, Cesena, then Sampdoria where perhaps the best Eder was seen. It remained in my heart. Then at Inter, a great team, I also had this opportunity to play in the Champions League. Every team in Italy has given me something and for this I am grateful, also because they allowed me to get to the national team”.
Was Napoli right to take Conte? Can he compete with Inter?
“Knowing mister Conte, I think he can do a great job in Naples. Inter are still ahead given the continuity with the coach and the great players, so they are one step ahead of everyone, but Napoli with Conte will be hard to beat.”
