Confirmation arrives directly from Saudi Arabia: the next chapter of Giacomo Bonaventura (34 years old) will not be in Serie A, nor in Italy nor in Europe but in the richest championship in the Middle East, the Saudi Pro League which has been attracting a significant portion of top-level players from the Old Continent for a couple of years now, sounding sirens that are economically complicated to send back to the sender.
And here also appears the company where the now ex-Fiorentina player will go to playwho has been a free agent since last June 30th after his previous contract with the Tuscan club had reached its natural expiration and had not been renegotiated. It will be Al Shabab of Riyadh, which also has a bit of Italy in it as its sporting director, Domenico Teti, is one of our compatriots. Tomorrow Bonaventura is expected in Riyadh for medical visits and to sign with his new club. Among his new teammates, the name of Ferreira Carrasco certainly stands out.
Bonaventura puts behind him the four years at Fiorentina, a team to which he in turn moved for free in the summer of 2020, after a long stint at Milan. Also linked in recent weeks to possible Italian destinations (Como, Genoa and Turin above all) the future of the class of ’89 will however be in the Saudi Pro League.
