Lo Monaco and the future of C: “Let’s exploit the money of A through the second teams”

TMW Radio

Special guest today at the microphone of ‘A Tutta C’, the new format of TMW Radio entirely dedicated to the Lega Pro. In fact, it was Pietro Lo Monacocurrent director of the Novara as well as the dean of Italian sports managers, with experience also in the higher divisions and in clubs such as Genoa, Catania, Udinese And Brescia.

Among the various topics touched upon by the Sicilian manager was also that of the reform that the FIGC is planning for the Italian football system:

“For the pundits, the reforms boil down to transforming Serie C into nothing. Consider that Serie C has already been reduced from 90 to 60 teams, the problem is supply, the C clubs need to be made autonomous. In fact, however, we are talking about a championship of depth, look at how many young people have moved on from Serie C to now play in Serie A. For example, forcing all the Serie A teams to have a second team would be there advantage of managing young people, paying an entry fee of two million per year would create a budget of 40 million, adding them to the 30 that Serie C has available would result in a sum of 70 million and a half for each club: one million to manage the season and 500 thousand euros for infrastructure. And on playing time I would not reward the clubs that let young people play on loan, but the players of their youth sector”.
