…with Fabio Lupo –

“I go against the grain: people have talked about the European Championships being bad in terms of entertainment, but that’s not the case. Many matches have provided interesting ideas. Maybe the big star was missing. However, it seemed like a good competition. We probably watch too much football and a bit of tiredness sets in when watching the matches”. This is what Fabio Lupo, sports director, formerly of Torino, Palermo and SPAL among others, told TuttoMercatoWeb.com.

Yamal and Williams the stars of this European Championship?
“Bellingham also had a tournament of great sacrifice, he played for the team. Yamal and Nico Williams certainly had an extraordinary European Championship. And I must say that I really liked the management of the VAR”.

Who are you betting on for the final? Spain or England?
“I think Spain is coming in with a clearer path, they have shown that they are the best team in the European Championship. But England are coming in with enthusiasm. And we know how much physicality the English put in”

And Italy? With what regret must it watch these European Championships?
“If we can start again from a calm and severe self-criticism there should be no regret. A debacle of this kind is better: it will lead to a deep reflection by all the components. This slap must serve to be able to start again”

Are we lacking talent for the future?
“More material needs to be found. Both in the league and in the national team we need to find the ability to take risks so that the players who play can express their talent.”
