Davit Khocholava announces retirement at 31: Georgian plagued by injuries

Official

David Khocholava announced his retirement yesterday. A decision motivated by the injuries that have plagued the 31-year-old Georgian defender in the last years of his career: “It is a difficult but inevitable decision. I have really tried and spent countless hours working to get back into shape, but I have to face the fact that there is no going back. It is tough but I have clear ideas and health must come first”, he declared to the official website of Copenhagen, his last team.

Thirty-nine appearances for Georgia (absent from the European Championship due to yet another injury), he also played for Dinamo Tbilisi, Chornomorets and Shakhtar Donetsk, before moving to Copenhagen three years ago.
