After the official announcement, which arrived directly from the Lega Serie A in the last few days, Inter has announced the signing of Peter Zielinskiwho has tied himself to the Nerazzurri club until 30 June 2028: “Piotr Zielinski is a new Inter player. The 1994-born midfielder has signed a contract with the Nerazzurri until 30 June 2028.
Lower Silesia is a border region of Poland: a land of forests, mountains and medieval castles, where time seems to have stopped several centuries ago. Green landscapes and steep slopes, dotted with ancient towers and fortresses: here is Ząbkowice Śląskie, a small town of about 20 thousand inhabitants, a place that in German is called Frankenstein and which is said to have inspired Mary Shelley for her novel of the same name.
Piotr Sebastian Zieliński was born here on May 20, 1994, in a young Poland that looked forward to the future with great hopes: the same hopes that marked Piotr’s childhood, a child with a strong sensitivity who dreamed of playing football in an area where winter sports reign supreme. A dream that began slowly, with the guidance of his father Boguslaw, a physical education teacher and his first coach. Little Piotr trained from an early age, kicking with both feet to improve his left foot.
The boy thus entered the youth sector of Orzeł Ząbkowice Śląskie, the team of his city, and then moved to Zagłębie Lubin at the age of 13. During this period Piotr also began his journey in the youth national teams: in 2010, while he was playing with the Polish under 16 team in a tournament in Spain, he was noticed by Udinese who brought him to Italy for a trial in 2011. From that moment Piotr never left our country.
Zieliński impressed with his talent and technique: after a year in the Primavera, coach Francesco Guidolin decided to add him to the first team of Friuli, with whom he played 20 games in two seasons between 2012 and 2014, the year in which he was sent on loan to Empoli.
The two seasons in Tuscany were full of successes and satisfactions: Zieliński found continuity of use and performance, becoming a linchpin of Empoli who came 10th in the 2015/16 Serie A.
Piotr attracted the attention of many big clubs: he moved to Napoli in the summer of 2016, where he met Maurizio Sarri, the coach who had valorized him in his first championship at Empoli. With the Neapolitans he quickly became one of the best midfielders in Serie A: in the blue jersey he played a total of 364 games, scored 51 goals and collected 64 appearances in the Champions League.
Zieliński becomes a pillar of Napoli: an ambidextrous player, gifted with great quality, skilled in shooting from distance and capable of scoring important and spectacular goals, Piotr is one of the protagonists of the team that in 2022/23 wins a historic Scudetto, a title that the Neapolitans had been missing for 33 years.
A symbol of his national team, Zieliński has collected 93 caps and 12 goals for Poland, also taking part in three European Championships and two World Cups, competition in which he also scored a goal in 2022 in a 2-0 win against Saudi Arabia.
Class, personality and a lot of experience in the Italian championship: Piotr Zieliński, the first Polish player in the history of Inter, is ready to bring all his qualities to the Nerazzurri”.
