Barcelona is about to say goodbye to Joao Félix. The dream of bringing the class of ’99 striker back to wear Blaugrana is about to break down as, as revealed by Manha’s MailL’Atletico Madrid and the Benfica are very close to reaching an agreement for the transfer of the player and the deal will be completed if the player agrees to return to Portugal. The agreement could be reached with the payment of 30 million euros for 50% of the player’s transfer, which would thus become the most expensive salary in the history of Aguias.
The indiscretion. According to the Portuguese newspaper, the Benfica joined forces to confront Joao Felix’s agent, Jorge Mendesand would like to get ahead of Barça, who are instead tied down by the salary cap. To the point that the Portuguese club could actually close the deal with 30 million euros, an offer that the Catalans have not even considered presenting. In fact, Barcelona’s plan consisted of waiting until July-August and trying to get the green light from Atlético for Joao Felix on loan. Instead, the Portuguese’s agent has kept the dialogue open with Benfica and is only waiting for the player’s decision.
The position of the player and Atlético. Joao Felix has always given priority to staying at Barça and to a winning project, even in Europe. Benfica’s incursion opens up new scenarios and if the 24-year-old player chooses to land in Lisbon, it will happen immediately after the European Championship. Regarding Atlético, however – the newspaper reports – any contact with the Blaugrana is finished because the intention is to finalize the transfer of Joao Felix to Benfica. Also because the 30 million instant that the colchoneros they would collect from the sale then it would amount to 60 million final and the accumulated nest egg would be reinvested elsewhere.
