Di Cesare: “Bari comes before everything. June 11th a year ago is my biggest regret”

The now former captain of Bari Valerio Di Cesarewho began his career as a manager in the Apulian club this season, gave a very long interview to the local edition of The Republic talking about his beginnings, his experience at Chelsea, up until his arrival in the red and white where he came close to promotion to Serie A, but also risked relegation in the last season: “The state of mind a month ago was absolutely not comparable to that of graduation, which in comparison was a walk in the park. My last match as a footballer will remain something incredible.”

Then there is room for his experience, while still a minor, in London: “The first times were very hard, I found myself alone in London after crying at the airport while saying goodbye to my parents. It was a very strong impact despite coming from a capital like Rome, another culture, people who came from all over the world. I used to take long walks alone, in Italy it would never have happened to me again. – continues Di Cesare – Ranieri? He is as we see him, a truly fantastic person and he had a wonderful relationship with all of us footballers.”

Then there is room for the regrets of a very long career: “The biggest one dates back to June 11th last year. A remorse that will accompany me for the rest of my life and even today I continue to ask myself: could I have done something more to bring my Bari to Serie A? – continues Di Cesare, returning to the relationship with the square – The most beautiful thing is that Bari appreciates me for the man I am and for what I have demonstrated. I have always said what I think and with the same sincerity I can say that I put Bari many times before everything”.

Finally, the new adventure as a manager: “It was President De Laurentiis who proposed this role to me and I accepted immediately. I only say to the fans that I will work with the same passion and commitment as when I played.”
