27 wins, 10 draws and 14 defeats: mister’s Chelsea Mauricio Pochettino managed to qualify for the Conference League (in the Europa League in the event of Manchester United’s failure to win the FA Cup against Manchester City next Saturday) despite a mixed performance from August to the end of April.
If the first part of the season saw the pharaonic signings of the Blues disappointing expectations both in terms of play and results, in the second and above all last part Pochettino’s troops managed to reverse the trend and reach the much coveted Europe. Thanks to the 25 goals of the season by the revelation Cole Palmer and the 17 by Nicolas Jackson, in addition to the 10 by Raheem Sterling and the 8 by Noni Madueke.
Thanks to the success obtained yesterday against Bournemouth, Chelsea have scored six consecutive useful results. After the humiliating 5-0 defeat against Arsenal on April 23, president Todd Boehly’s team managed to draw 2-2 with Aston Villa, beating Tottenham 2-0, West 5-0 Ham, 3-2 away to Nottingham, 2-1 away to Brighton and finally 2-1 at home to Cherries. Will this final rush be enough to confirm Pochettino’s bench?
