TMW Radio
Deep knowledge of the world of Lega Pro, Giuseppe Pillonformer coach of teams such as Triestina, Pescara, Chievo Verona, Livorno And Ascoliamong many, spoke about the moment of the third series tournament through the microphones of TMW Radio within the ‘A Tutta C’ broadcast:
Mister, as a coach, how do you evaluate the choice of Padova who, close to the playoffs, chose to change the coach, saying goodbye to Torrente to make room for Oddo?
“I think he can be an added value. He has a very respectable CV, given that he coached in Serie A and won with Pescara. If they called him back it’s because they think he is the right person to win this championship.”
Many, too many exemptions this season too…
“It’s like this now. There are teams that have changed up to 4 coaches in a year. In this case the error is not only the coach’s. I live near Cittadella. Cittadella started very well and then suffered 8 defeats in a row. I challenge other clubs on the fact that the coach was not sacked. The Cittadella, however, is a different matter.”
Do you think it could be due to a sort of epidemic of managers who have little knowledge of the green rectangle?
“There are many managers who don’t know the field. Unfortunately they have the ball in their hands. As in all things, common sense is needed. The coach changes if he has lost the team. I don’t see why we need to change when this isn’t the case. To understand certain decisions you have to be inside.”
As a former Triestina player, what challenge do you expect between the Halberds and Benevento?
“It’s a very important test for Triestina. Benevento is a strong team that aims to win. This match is very intriguing. I’m curious to understand how they will play against one of the favourites.”
A thought on his Pescara.
“I didn’t expect it to come out right away. For me the team was good, maybe a few too many young players. They paid a little for Zeman’s situation. There was some bad luck this season. Everyone expected him to do more.”
What playoffs do you expect overall?
“There are teams. In fact, there are many famous teams. I haven’t seen Catania but it could be annoying. For me Benevento and Avellino are the strongest.”
Finally, a thought about an old acquaintance of his like Sergio Pellissier who in recent days took possession of the Chievo Verona brand for his Clivense.
“I believe a lot in Pellissier. I know him well and he’s a smart guy. I think Chievo couldn’t have ended up in better hands. I would be very happy if they managed to get to Serie C as early as next year.”
