Krstovic: “Lecce is my team. In the summer I want to stay here”

The Lecce striker Nikola Krstovic he spoke at a press conference on the sidelines of the training session held with open doors at the Via del Mare stadium.

What is the reason for his growth in the last few races?
“Nothing has changed, I have always trained well trying to play for the team and score goals. I’ve just been doing it lately. For the form it’s not a problem, I can play with another striker or alone. Gotti simply told me to be free and play the way I know how. At the beginning of the championship we played well, then there was a break, now we’ve started again.”

How should the match against Udinese be approached?
“We only think about winning on Monday, even if salvation comes at the weekend. We will aim to score as many points as possible between now and the end. I like playing with an attacking partner, he helps me when I have my back to goal. I hope to be able to play with another striker on Monday although Piccoli is absent.”

He achieved 7 official goals. Objective by the end of the championship?
“I scored 7 goals but for me it’s 9. I had set the goal of scoring 15 goals, then I encountered difficulties. I would be satisfied with 10 seasonal goals.”

He was warned by a booking and was not booked in Cagliari despite a heated match.
“I knew a yellow card would cost me dearly. I think I’ve grown mentally this year. The match against Udinese was very important, I couldn’t have been booked; even Gotti was surprised by my attitude, I told him that I knew I would score, so I couldn’t get booked. In the past I got caught up in the heat and lost clarity. I was so fiery as a child, it’s a Baltic mentality. Now I’m trying to be calmer to avoid cards.”

Do you intend to stay in Lecce this summer?
“Of course I want to stay, Lecce is my team.”
