INTER-BOLOGNA 2-2
(19′ Dumfries, 45’+1 Lautaro; 15′ Castro, 64′ Holm)
Inter’s report cards – Edited by Ivan Cardia
Summer 6.5 – Moro’s shot from outside at the start of the match landed decisively on the post. Watch out for Odgaard’s blow at the end of the first half, mocked by friendly fire (read deflections) on the two goals conceded.
Darmian 5.5 – Ndoye has ability and intuition: when he attacks, containing him is a problem, despite his usual generosity. (From 70′ Pavard 6 – Petrol to be put in the tank to bring the engine back to its usual rpm).
De Vrij 6.5 – A Castro-style center forward is what is needed to put him in difficulty. He contains it without going crazy, confirming his good time.
Sticks 6.5 – He kicks off the restart to make it 1-1, but is unlucky in the deflection which makes it 2-2. A couple of great closures. (From 83′ Buchanan sv).
Dumfries 7 – Trial by fire for the neighbor Ndoye, who Inter has been studying as a reinforcement for some time and, at least in the defensive phase, is overwhelmed by the Dutch pendulum. He is Inzaghi’s added striker and in fact he scores in tap-in: he also tries in the second half, at the end the reserve warning light comes on.
Stretcher 6.5 – The last of the Mohicans is also the most convincing in Inzaghi’s midfield: at a certain point he will also have to catch his breath. He ties the departments together, taking the place of both major absentees.
Asllani 5 – Calhanoglu’s medium-long injury opens the door to a continuity he has never had or achieved since he was at Inter. A step back compared to Venice: didactic, never at the center of the game, with more than one inaccuracy especially at the start of the second half. When he comes out, he is the Inter player who has touched the ball the least: not exactly a detail for a point guard. (From 70′ Frattesi 5 – By the way: four balls touched in 24 minutes. If this is what you want…).
Zielinski 5 – Start to forget: he falls asleep and gives Moro a delicious chance from outside; then he is late on the second ball, prey to the Croatian midfielder, which leads to 1-0. He makes up for a bad first half with the final throw that paves the way for the opening goal. Better in the second half, even without particular peaks: it’s not enough.
Dimarco 6 – He sprints and stings, making himself dangerous both on his own and with suggestions to his teammates: Inter’s first two goals came from his incursions. He tarnishes a good performance by misreading the trajectory of the cross for Orsolini in the action of the 2-2 rossoblù. (From the 70th minute Carlos Augusto 6 – Two roles for one, both played with good spirit).
Thuram 6.5 – His ability to split the game is pure oxygen for Inter, who have no other players like him. He drags the team to the equalizer goal, combines with his attacking partner as if it hadn’t been 250 days since he and the Argentine have scored in the same match, then he also invites Taremi: unheeded.
Lautaro 7 – Castro takes measures for the place that, perhaps, one day will be his, opening the ball. The Bullwho really seems to be back in his movements, responds to the young padawan by closing the first half by scoring at San Siro as on the best days. (From 75′ Taremi 5 – There has been so much talk about the goals not scored by Lautaro, that his goals ended up in the cavalry. Still dry in the championship, still limp on the opportunities that Thuram offers him to break the deadlock: the rest, while appreciable, is not enough).
Simone Inzaghi 6 – Awarded as best coach of the month of December in Serie A before the match, he fields the best Inter possible with the aim of replacing the first of the two asterisks in the standings with three points which would allow him to keep pace with the virtual overtaking of Napoli. Mission failed, and after all it can happen: it’s difficult to think about changes with a team full of absences, but Lautaro’s one could still be discussed. He was afraid of being tripped and there he was, perhaps that’s why he closes with a hint of nervousness.

Skorupski 6 – His short clearance led to an immediate equalizer for Dumfries, after Castro had broken the deadlock. For the rest, overall a sufficient match.
Holm 7 – A roller coaster evening for the right back, who suffered from Dimarco in several circumstances but then in the second half had the merit of making the score 2-2. From 76′ De Silvestri 6 – In the finale, he holds on his side with his usual wisdom.
Beukema 5.5 – Certainly not the proof of greater solidity on his part, especially given what he showed in the first half of the game.
Farmhouse 5.5 – He doesn’t make the most of his chance as a starter, replacing the suspended Lucumì. He barely contains the entry of Inzaghi’s players into the area.
Lykogiannis 5 – If Holm goes badly against Dimarco, he goes even worse given the state of grace in Dumfries. Lautaro is also late when he takes Inter forward.
Freuler 6 – The determination is not lacking as always, but sometimes it is not enough to best contain the Nerazzurri opposite players in the middle of the pitch. Better during the second half. From 87′ Erlic sv.
Moro 6 – He starts with great attitude, forcing Sommer to deflect a ball he threw towards the post. He plays an appreciable game overall. From 67′ Pobega 6 – He brings freshness to the Bolognese midfield, in a more containment final for the Italian team.
Orsolini 6.5 – After a decidedly anonymous first half of the game, he emerged in the second, serving the equalizer to Holm and showing off with other offensive ideas.
Odgaard 6 – Just before Lautaro’s goal, his header from a corner comes close to making it 1-2. Between the lines, he grows as the match progresses. From 67′ Ferguson 6 – With his entry onto the pitch, he brings more substance to preserve the draw after winning than presence in the final meters.
Ndoye 6.5 – A good factor on the left lane, where he lights up with reasonable consistency over the 90 minutes, keeping the Nerazzurri rearguard apprehensive.
Castro 7 – On the evening of the confrontation with one of his references in Lautaro, he scored first with a strike on Moro’s shot from outside the area. He has a tough time against De Vrij, but he also has the merit of propitiating the action that leads to the 2-2 final. From 87′ Erlic sv.
Vincenzo Italian 6.5 – He goes to San Siro to compete, being rewarded with at least a point. His team did well not to become disunited after the great suffering in the second half of the first half, when Inter scored 2 goals.
