Fiorentina’s crisis continues in Monza: 2-1 for Brianza, first victory for Bocchetti

Monza beats Fiorentina 2-1 and leaves them in full crisis. Bocchetti smiles, first success for him.

Penalty taken away from Sottil, Monza advantage with Ciurria – After the minute of silence in memory of Cudicini, the Brianteo match begins. With Fiorentina starting better and immediately creating the first opportunities with Gosens, who angles the left foot too much, but above all with Gudmundsson, who does not take advantage of a favorable rebound following the development of a corner kick, shooting high with his right foot from an excellent position. The excellent Viola start is sublimated in the penalty kick awarded by Sottil for Mari (on the pitch from the 1st minute with the captain’s armband despite the transfer rumors linking him to Fiorentina) initially awarded by the referee Dionisi but then subsequently removed review by the match director following a report from the VAR. Monza also begins to emerge, scaring the Tuscans with his left foot just wide from long range. The match therefore drops in quality and the number of scoring opportunities in the second half of the half suffers, almost none. In reality there is one and it is enough for Monza to take the lead, with Ciurria freezing De Gea with a left foot just before injury time in the first half, making it 1-0 for Monza with which the two teams return to the changing rooms at the interval.

Maldini takes the lead, Beltran only shortens – One substitution for each side upon returning to the field after the fifteen minute break between halves: Palladino rejected Gudmundsson already in the 45th minute and brought on Beltran, while Bocchetti was forced to remove Mari from the field due to adductor discomfort. At the start of the second half there was a great chance for Fiorentina to equalise, but Carboni was providential to save on the line, preventing the 1-1 draw in Beltran. Missed goal, conceded goal: so goes the football adage and yet another demonstration of its truthfulness arrives at the U-Power Stadium. In the 63rd minute Monza found the 2-0 with a nice volley from Daniel Maldini, who has scored two goals out of two in this Serie A against Fiorentina, following a cross from Pereira. Palladino tries to use all the weapons he has available on the bench, including the newly arrived Folorunsho. However, Beltran turns out to be the one with the most on the ball and it is he who procures and then converts the penalty kick which brings Fiorentina to close the lead to 2-1 in the 74th minute. The efforts of the Tuscans, however, do not bear fruit and in the end it is Monza who celebrates and to give himself the first victory with the new course. The first ever as a singles coach for Bocchetti in his career.
