Ancelotti: “I didn’t think I would return to Real Madrid, I called to buy a player”

Carlo Ancelotti yesterday became the coach with the most titles in the history of Real Madrid. After the victory against Pachuca the Italian coach spoke in the press conference: “I’m very happy. It’s a success. We started a bit like this… but little by little we took control. Obviously we had a difference in quality, but we had to show attitude and little by little we deserved it. In the end I liked the attitude of the players, we found the passes between the lines.”

Of your 15 titles, can you choose which one is the most special?
“No, of course not. It’s difficult to say, but La Décima was special for me and for Madrid. Even the Champions League victory in Paris. If I had to choose, it was these two.”

Do you know better than anyone how to win titles with Real Madrid?
“I want to be honest. Winning titles at Real Madrid is easier than anywhere else: they have a fantastic club, a supportive fan base and a team with the best players in the world.”

What do you remember about your return to Madrid?
“The days before I never thought I could go back. I made that call just to see if I could find some players to sign. I launched it like that and they fell into the trap (laughs, ed.)”.
