Final result: Milan-Genoa 0-0
MILAN
Maignan 6 – A match as a non-paying spectator, the only time he sees himself is when he has to work hard to make up for a “suicidal” back pass by Thiaw, who risks an own goal.
Emerson Royal 5.5 – Timid start, he often limits himself – as always happens to him – to his homework but at the start of the second half he comes close to scoring with an angled header. Usual unexciting performance
Cage 6.5 – He puts a patch together several times, showing concentration and clarity even in the most difficult moments.
Thiaw 6 – Interesting duel with Pinamonti, who makes his life difficult on a physical level. A few too many mistakes also risk ruining the omelette at the end.
Jimenez 6.5 – Timid at first, then he begins to loosen up. Definitely better when he has to attack: he often cuts towards the center of the pitch, exchanges well with Leao and reaches the back of the pitch with ease.
Fofana 6.5 – Less dominant than usual, but has to fight against a large and organized midfield. Often outnumbered, but always in great shape and skilled in both phases.
Reijnders 7 – When he lights up, Milan changes pace. He recovers balls, verticalizes, starts alone up to the three-quarters but his teammates don’t follow him. The only truly positive in an evening with a bitter taste.
Chukwueze 5 – In such a close match, the Nigerian’s personal ideas should be decisive. He often gets stubborn and is unable to dribble past his opponents as he would like. From 76′ Okafor 4.5 – Maybe it would have been better to stay on the bench. He gets everything there is wrong wrong, the one most cheered by the fans.
Liberals 6 – The emotion of his first start as a starter is evident. Genoa pressured him and struggled to take measures, but as the minutes passed they got into the heart of the game, even without making any transcendental plays. From 62′ Camarda 6 – The public hopes that he will shake things up in what seems to be yet another bad night, too much responsibility on the shoulders of a boy who never manages to make himself dangerous. The faults, obviously, are not his.
Leao 5 – On a difficult evening, you see too little. The captain almost never drags his Milan forward: few “outbursts”, no conclusions.
Abraham 5.5- A good opportunity, with a diagonal shot from a good position that ends up wide, but his teammates struggle to find him and offer him playable balls. From 46′ Morata 5 – He starts as an offensive reference, then moves to support Camarda. The most delicious opportunities happen at his feet: the left-foot shot is forgettable, the crossbar from close range is sensational. Serious errors.
Paulo Fonseca 5.5 – After his recent outbursts, the pressure is all on him. His choices are certainly “strong”: after leaving Leao on the bench, it is the turn of another senator like Theo Hernandez. He deploys the young Jimenez and Liberali from the 1st minute, but courage doesn’t pay off: the former run away, his Milan doesn’t take off and the fans protest loudly.
GENOA (Report cards by Paolo Lora Lamia)
Loyal 6.5 – Protected overall well by the rearguard, but when called upon he is always present. He stands out in particular at the start of the second half, with an excellent save on Emerson Royal.
Vogliacco 5.5 – Already booked during the first half of the game, he has more than one difficulty in containing the impetuosity of the young Jimenez as well as the usual Leao. From 46′ Sabelli 5.5 – With him on the field, things don’t improve much in protecting his skill range.
Bani 6 – An incorrect disengagement that could have been costly, but otherwise he pays good attention within his area.
Vasquez 6.5 – Among the best in the rossoblù ranks in the 90 minutes. Abraham has a very tough life against him in aerial duels. he also holds up quite well against Morata.
Martin 6 – More blocked than called upon to push, he has things to do against Chukwueze. He contained it better after the break, doing the same at the end when Okafor came on.
Thorsby 6 – Intensity and dynamism from the former Samp player, who battles in midfield but as soon as he has the opportunity he also shows up forward.
Badelj 6 – He doesn’t start the Genoa maneuver with great precision, while in the non-possession phase he emerges much more clearly, helping the defense to contain the Rossoneri’s advances.
Frendrup 6 – The midfielder, linked more than once to Milan, plays wood in the middle of the pitch without flashy plays.
Zanoli 6 – A couple of offensive sorties, but otherwise he helps first Vogliacco and then Sabelli in containing Milan’s new left-footed pair of Jimenez and Leao. From 91′ Norton-Cuffy sv.
Pinamonti 5.5 – Difficult evening for the former Inter striker. The balls arrive slowly and the number of chances, consequently, is almost zero. Sometimes, he still tries to lend a hand by leaving the area, but without too much success.
5.5 sights – It starts from the left and then enters the field, not entering during the finishing phase. When he tries to lend a hand in defence, on one occasion in the first 45 minutes he even risks committing a penalty. From 80′ Vitinha sv.
Patrick Vieira 6.5 – The performance of his Genoa is certainly not a hymn to spectacle, but certainly to solidity and collective sacrifice. He greatly limits the Rossoneri’s offensive potential, gaining a point that moves the rossoblù table.
