Man City, Guardiola: “I’m not immune to sacking, but I would never resign”

Manchester City today will try to make up for a very complicated period in the derby, the most difficult of the Manchester City era Pep Guardiola. The Spanish coach himself spoke about it, speaking to the microphones of Sky Sports UK: “The owners know that when the situation is bad and we start losing games, then it’s not sustainable. So I wouldn’t be here next month or in the next two months if we didn’t have to change gear. The results say it, and that’s the reality We can’t lose games forever. Maybe because of what we’ve done in the past people think I’ll never be sacked, but we’re judged every day like all the other coaches.”

Guardiola was also asked a question about possible resignation: “The club knows that I would not resign, the club should sack me. I want to be close to the players. I want to be close to them. We have lost many games, more than we have lost in two seasons. Something is wrong, but I put myself first and think about what I can do better.

Guardiola is certainly also paying for his injuries and in fact he underlines this:
“In Turin in the defeat against Juventus we had four players from the youth sector, so we can see the reality. In the next match it will be the same and in the last month it has been like this. You can survive for a few matches but we have been doing it for more than a month with players with a lot of minutes in their legs.”
