Benfica doesn’t want to sell off Cabral: away for only 20 million, 15 million rejected by the USA

Arrived in the summer of 2023 from Fiorentina for 20 million euros (4.5 more than those paid by the Viola a year and a half earlier into Basel’s coffers), Arthur Cabral has been on the fringes of Benfica for some time. The Brazilian striker had been discarded by coach Roger Schmidt, who had focused on other profiles, and even with the new coach Bruno Lage things have not changed.

Thus, the club is working to finalize his sale in January, after having tried in vain to get rid of him in the summer. Cruzeiro had thought about the attacker but, faced with the request of 20 million euros (Benfica does not want to lose a euro compared to the amount paid to the Viola), had decided to back down. Now the Lisbon club – which has already communicated its intention to sell the player – is aiming at the American market and hopes in Atlanta United, which has offered 15 million.

Twenty-six years old, Arthur Cabral made 43 appearances in all competitions in his first season in Portugal, scoring 11 goals and providing 3 assists. In the current one there are 17, of which only three as a starter (two in the Taça de Portugal), with 4 goals and 1 assist and less than 500 minutes played.
