Milan, commemoration for Kilpin. Scaroni: “He wrote the very first pages of history”

In the season of celebrations of the 125th Anniversary of AC Milanthe Municipality of Milan has attributed to Herbert KilpinFounder of the Club, the honors of burial in the Crypt of the Famedio of the Monumental Cemetery of Milan, a place that welcomes illustrious, meritorious and distinguished personalities in the history of their homeland linked to the Milanese capital.

The commemoration and honoring ceremony was held this morning in the presence of the institutions – starting with the Mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala and the Councilor for Decentralization, Neighborhoods and Participation, General Civic Services Gaia Romani – of the President of AC Milan Paolo Scaroni, of representatives of the AC Milan Senior Management and Helen Stirland, descendant of the Club’s Founder.

Giuseppe Sala, Mayor of Milan, commented: “Today, with the burial of Herbert Kilpin’s remains at the Famedio among the city’s greats, Milan reaffirms its affection and pays the right honors to one of the founding fathers of Milan and modern Italian football. The story of Kilpin and the ceremony of this morning they demonstrate that Milan is a city that has always been able to welcome and that does not forget those who have contributed to making it a point of reference at a national and international level in all areas, including sport”.

Paolo Scaroni, President of AC Milan, wanted to underline: “A few days before the exact date of our 125th Anniversary, we want to celebrate those who began our history: Herbert Kilpin, who wrote the very first pages of the AC Milan legend, and with them the history of Italian and European football. I want to thank the city institutions, starting from the Municipality of Milan, for having awarded our Founder the honors of burial in the Crypt of the Famedio of the Monumental Cemetery. It is an occasion that strengthens the link between the past, the present and the future of Milan, also testifying to the profound and precious bond that unites us in Milan.”
