The match between Germany and Italy will be played in Dortmund, the return match of the Nations League quarter-finals which will take place on March 23rd. After a few days of reflection, the DFB’s choice fell on Signal Iduna Park. “The team led by the national coach Julian Nagelsmann – reads the press release – will initially face the four-time world and two-time European champions on 20 March 2025 at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan. The return match will take place three days later at the Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund”.
DFB sporting director Rudi Völler commented on the news as follows: “Dortmund is one of the largest and most impressive stadiums in Germany and therefore the perfect venue for this football classic. The national team has won many important matches here, most recently the round of 16 of the European Championship against Denmark in the summer and before again, in September 2023, the match against world runner-up France”.
And again: “We definitely want to reach the Nations League Final Four against Italy for the first time in March, and for this we above all need the support of the fans. And what comes from Dortmund is traditionally important.”
