The sporting director of Roma, Florian Ghisolfi, spoke to Sky Sports before the Europa League match against Braga. Ghisolfi commented on the formation choices, focusing in particular on Pellegrini and Soulé, and spoke about the January transfer window and the search for the next coach.
Pellegrini and Soulé as starters, what do you expect from them?
“It’s important to make changes, because we have three games a week. For Pellegrini and Soulé it’s very important to play: they are important players for the team, for the club. They need confidence, to play. For the full-backs it’s interesting to see this quality and speed. The base is the same, the three defenders. We need to give these players a chance to be ready.”
Are you thinking of intervening on the market in January to strengthen the external lanes?
“Yes, with coach Ranieri and the owner we are working on two things. First, the January transfer market to improve the team. Second, on the next coach. We want to anticipate and find great coherence on the two things.”
Do you think you already have in mind who will be Roma’s next manager before January?
“I think the January transfer window and the choice of the next manager are linked. The sooner we have the new manager, the better. Identity is important.”
Italian or foreign coach?
“I don’t know, but identity is important.”
