Barcelona are working against time to get on the list Dani Olmocosting 47 million euros plus bonuses in the summer and the top purchase of the entire session. Currently, the player is only registered in La Liga until December 31st thanks to the replacement of the injured Andreas Christensen.
But according to what we learned from Sports Worldthe Spanish midfielder could be released for free if the club fails to re-register him in the winter transfer window or in one of the subsequent ones until his contract expires, scheduled for 2030. This possibility is in fact contemplated in a clause included in his contract at August, with its representatives who wanted to protect themselves from possible future problems for the club. At the time of signing with Barcelona, Dani Olmo had in fact agreed to be registered for just one season, an unusual situation, given that players usually sign for the total duration of their contract. However, given the delicate financial situation of the club, Olmo accepted the company’s request.
As the weeks passed, however, Barça had failed to free up sufficient space in its financial fair play, and the funds needed to make up the deficit of Barça Studios were slow in arriving. There had not been enough income nor enough transfers, despite that of Gündogan. Thus, Olmo had to miss the first two days of the championship while waiting for authorization to play. The opportunity to register it only came with Christensen’s long-term injury, a registration however only valid until December 31st. To deal with this very particular situation, Olmo’s contract was updated again in August, inserting a new clause. The agreement stipulated that the player agreed to be registered for only half the season, but it was established that, if he was not registered in one of the subsequent transfer windows, he would have the possibility of freeing himself from Barcelona for free and signing with any other club.
