David Hancko is Cristiano Giuntoli’s great asset to strengthen the Juventus defense. Born in ’97, the Slovakian defender who has already tasted the Italian championship without too much success, wearing the Fiorentina shirt for five matches during the 2018/19 season, is now a pillar of Feyenoord, the fourth team in the Eredivisie which is performing well in the Champions League with ten points won in the first six games.
Left-footed, Hancko was paid more than eight million euros by the Rotterdam club in 2022 and today he is worth around 30. Or rather, thirty million euros is the Dutch club’s valuation to sell the player from Prievidza next summer. Not in January.
For June Juventus has a fast track. He has already optioned the player and will then have freer hands to set up this deal. Above all, at the end of the season Facundo Gonzalez, born in 2003 and former Sampdoria player who Giuntoli loaned to Feyenoord in the summer, could also be included in the negotiation. Also a left-footed centre-back, the Uruguayan footballer is slowly finding more and more space in the Dutch team. But today in Rotterdam they still don’t have very clear ideas about the possibility of redeeming him.
Juventus and Feyenoord set Gonzalez’s buyout fee at six million euros in the summer. And the South American footballer’s price tag could become an important asset in lowering the financial outlay and bringing Hancko back to Turin. But today it is still early, the Rotterdam company has not yet resolved its reservations on this issue.
All this does not mean that Juventus will not try again to bring forward the operation to January. Far from it. As mentioned, Hancko is Giuntoli’s favorite. But if the road is clear for June (with or without Gonzalez), for January it is much more complicated: Feyenoord currently has no intention of bringing forward the operation.
