Luca Marelli, former referee and expert on the topic, during the match broadcast on DAZN he expressed himself on the episode as follows: “It is a situation very similar to Reijnders’ expulsion in Milan-Udinese. In that case the pitch referee and VAR decided he couldn’t change the decision. Here, for me, it’s right not to send Kalulu off because the four DOGSO criteria are missing, namely that of possession of the ball. Perin was in the lead and would have arrived first.”
