Barcelona, Christensen confesses: “I should have listened to my body and had surgery some time ago”

Andreas Christensen he disappeared from the radar. The central defender (also used as a midfielder) of Barcelona, unavailable since 24 August due to a problem with his left Achilles tendon which forced him to recently undergo surgery, granted an interview to TV 2 Sports to talk about the moment he is experiencing: “I’m back on the pitch and this is the first step. Then I have to feel comfortable, but I feel good and I see that we are finally on the right path”.

The 28-year-old Dane continued: “I don’t remember the last time I played without pain at all! I would say that I only felt very good in my first season in Barcelona, which was in 2022/23. I’m angry with myself: maybe I should have listen to my body first and operate before, but on the other hand we always want to play. I learned that you have to take care of your body when it needs it, I should have done it before, last season I think everyone knows that I play with pain from a a little.”

Regarding Hansi Flick’s new Barcelona, the former Chelsea player said: “I’m happy for the team because they are winning, but obviously I would like to be part of it. I watch them from home while I just want to be on the pitch, so it’s hard. The days they’re longer because I’m not doing what I really want to do.” Christensen is expected to return to action in January.
