The ‘Gazzetta dello Sport’ on newsstands today reconstructs what happened to Edoardo Bove on Sunday eveningFiorentina midfielder who suffered an illness during the first half of the match against Inter. According to Rosea, what appears clear at this point is that Bove’s cardiac arrest was caused by a malignant ventricular arrhythmia.
The sports daily also focuses on the possibility that Bove could return to play. In what case? It could happen if the
problem was limited to low potassium. Then there are evolutionary pathologies, i.e. myocarditis, which can be cured: these in the active phase can cause even very serious arrhythmias, but then they ‘pass’. Another case could be a congenital anomaly of the coronary arteries, which could be resolved with surgery. But there are many, or rather at the moment there are more, pathologies which, if found, would block Bove.
The investigations in the next few days will tell something more. This is the latest report issued by Fiorentina in the early afternoon yesterday: “ACF Fiorentina communicates that Edoardo Bove, after spending a quiet night, was awakened and extubated this morning. He is currently awake, alert and oriented. He spoke with his family, the Viola management, the coach and his teammates who came to see him as soon as the good news was received. In the next few days, further investigations will be carried out to establish the causes that led to the critical situation that occurred yesterday. From Careggi, the doctors treating the player confirm that diagnostic investigations are continuing. Fiorentina thanks the Careggi University Hospital, all the doctors and staff for the work carried out with great humanity and professionalism. Thanks also go to all the Viola People and the entire world of football who, in this delicate moment , have shown great closeness and attention with their messages and their support which have given great comfort both to the Club and to Edoardo and his family”.
