Cagliari regains victory and even a clean sheet in the early Friday evening of the 14th matchday of Serie A, sending Hellas Verona back into the abyss from which they were trying to escape of Zanetti, who doesn’t seem to have benefited too much from the withdrawal of the last few days. The home team won 1-0 at the Unipol Domus, with the decisive goal scored by Piccoli a quarter of an hour into the ninetieth minute.
For his part, a satisfied Davide Nicola sums up the performance like this offered by his Cagliari: “We worked a lot on transitions, capitalized on the opportunities created. Verona had prepared the match very well. This victory is a source of pride. I chose Lapadula, never used as a starter, to gain more space between the central defenders to follow the midfielders when dribbling and use Piccoli not only in front, but in an attempt to create gaps.”
The Gialloblù coach, Paolo Zanetti, was decidedly less happywhose position appears to be in the balance. In the meantime, try not to think about it, however: “We are obviously disappointed by the result, we were looking for points on a difficult pitch but above all an answer for ourselves. Today I don’t feel like saying anything to the boys who gave their soul. We need to start from there , from a performance that was there and a completely different spirit, from the opportunities created. I believe that today we bring the dignity and pride back home and for us it is important. If we had had this attitude before, we probably wouldn’t be so worried.” .
