The investigation into the links between Inter, Milan and the ultras begins: here’s what the two clubs risk

The ultra file arrived in Rome yesterday morning: according to what the Corriere dello Sportthere are 12 thousand pages written by the investigators of Milan and the Anti-Mafia. The connections between Inter and Milan with their respective organized fans are in the spotlight, the latter having ended up in the eye of the storm because they were entangled with crime in a racket that ranged from ticket management to the San Siro car parks. The federal prosecutor’s office wants to delve into the personal relationships of the players with the leaders of the curves (calls and meetings), but also the issue of the vouchers given to the groups, in the case of Inter for the Champions League final in Istanbul against City. The Nerazzurri and Milan, it is worth remembering, have no members under investigation.

The sporting investigation into the “Doppie Curve” case begins in effect. The federal prosecutor Chiné had already made the request to access the documents on 1 October. The work of the prosecutors, however, was thorough: after the arrests, they continued for weeks with reconstructions, collection of testimonies and searches; so the federal pool, formed yesterday morning with 8 specialists, will proceed with interrogations after having studied the package. Inter and Milan consider themselves the injured parties in this matter, but still risk incurring sanctions.

The issue is framed in article 25 of the sports justice code: Fines and disqualifications for strict liability are foreseen. In 2017, for his relations with the ultras, Andrea Agnelli received a fine of 100 thousand euros, plus another 600 thousand for Juventus. However, there is also the most serious and currently most remote scenario: that linked to penalties in the rankings. Convictions are possible on the basis of article 4 (which imposes loyalty, probity and correctness of members) or art. 6, the one that deals with the direct responsibility of companies for the actions of those who represent them at the highest levels, as in the case of presidents.
