The president of Porto, André Villas-Boasreiterated his trust in coach Vítor Bruno today before the trip to Belgium, where the “Dragoes” will face Anderlecht, in a match valid for the fifth round of the Europa League. “The trust in the coach remains, both on the part of the players and the management. He has the space to develop his work, he has time; he was our choice for this project, and we believe in him. His work is not in question ,” the president told reporters at Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, in Pedras Rubras, Maia.
“The results are not up to Porto’s level, but we need to give time for things to turn around, for the team to regain confidence and start meeting the expectations of our supporters. We missed the opportunity to win the Taça de Portugal, a competition which has great historical significance for us, but we have great ambitions for this season and even more important goals to achieve,” assured André Villas-Boas.
“I don’t want this to be seen as an act of courage. I thanked the fans for their presence in Moreira de Cónegos, where they supported us until the end. We understand the disappointment of our supporters and feel the weight of responsibility, expectations and of the desire to change outcomes,” he concluded.
