In recent days the name of Nicolas Otamendi has been strongly compared to River Plate. From Argentina they said that the transfer could take place in January. A piece of news which, however, was officially denied by Benfica itself. The Portuguese club, in fact, has issued a statement in which it specifies that it will not let Otamendi leave in the winter transfer market:
“Sport Lisboa e Benfica categorically denies that it is willing to do without Nicolás Otamendi in the January transfer window, also underlining that the team captain has no intention of leaving the Club. In recent weeks we have witnessed successive (mis)information who speak of pseudo departures of several Benfica players in the January transfer window, which do not correspond to reality and end up making noise.”
