Genoa, Vieira: “I can’t wait for Sunday. The public is an important element for the club”

During the presentation press conference, the Genoa coach Patrick Vieira praised the rossoblù fans: “I can’t wait for Sunday. The strong point of the club is the public. I believe that playing at home must be a strong point for the players. Now I want it to be Sunday to experience this moment, which will be strong. The public is an important element for the club and I hope that they will push the team as always.”

What opponent do you expect on Sunday?
“There is a staff that has worked in the last few weeks at Cagliari. It’s a team that likes to play the ball forward. The important thing is to focus on how we have to play. If we play a good game with the people in the stadium we can put Cagliari is in difficulty.”

Past experiences in Italy?
“When I arrived at Milan at 18, I learned to be a footballer. I was lucky enough to be coached by Capello. I was close to important players who taught me a lot. I had an affection for Italy because this is where it began career as a player”.

What effect did seeing the public as an adversary have on you?
“It’s one of the reasons why I’m here. It’s the fundamental basis, the atmosphere to be competitive. We have to be like the fans, we have to be a difficult team to beat. And if we manage to do this we can do interesting things” .
