It happened and in the most unexpected way for theHungary and for the Germanybecause with a winning penalty in the 90’+9′ converted by Dominik Szoboszlai the national team of Marco Rossi took the 1-1 draw by right, avoiding relegation and waiting for the play-offs: “We played well – began the Italian coach – and we stuck to our tactics until the end. We had many scoring opportunities and we could have score before Germany. Let’s not forget that the opponent was Germany, so we can be satisfied with the draw.”
More than a smile, therefore, for the Hungarian national team: “This evening (yesterday, ed.) we fought tremendously and fought for every ball, we tried to win every duel 50/50 and, from the first to the last minute, there was the right ambition in the players. We were lucky in the phases finals (for the penalty, ed.) and I hope that luck remains on our side from now on.”
With a fact that makes us reflect on the compactness of Rossi’s team: “We haven’t lost at home since the match against Italy in 2022 and the motivation to play in front of fans like these continues to grow, so that we are able to do more with them than without them. In our game there have been some mistakes tonight, in our passing and in simple situations, but having said that, the draw was fully deserved.”
Acknowledging in conclusion: “We had opportunities to score, we made many counterattacks and sometimes we managed to surprise the Germans. The only flaw in our autumn record are the away defeats by five and four goals, which bother me a lot, but we have to make take into account the caliber of the teams against which we suffered these defeats.”
