The goalkeeper of Milan Mike Maignanstarter for France at San Siro against Spalletti’s Italy, was the protagonist of a late save on an attempt by Moise Kean which prevented Italy from closing the gap further, after a match in which he had not had to perform great miracles . At the end of the match won by the team of Didier Deschamps for 3 to 1, the goalkeeper spoke on French TV TF1.
Here are his words starting from the save on Moise Kean in full injury time: “I don’t know if I saved the team with this save, the match was almost over. But it’s nice. I like making saves, when it’s decisive, when it’s important for the team. There was nothing better than victory tonight, we wanted a revenge. It was a game for pride, after the defeat at home in September.”
He then exalts the team spirit shown by France at San Siro: “We put everything in, we know what we have to do when we play together, for the trust we have to have is very important when we play as a team in this way. When we commit to helping each other, we can do great things. Then they are performances that must be repeated, it is worthy of the French team.”
