The Nantes and the Cardiff they will meet this Monday in Nantes, in front of the commercial court, for a new hearing on the case Emiliano Salathe former Argentine striker who died in a plane crash just before his transfer to the Welsh club.
According to reports The TeamCardiff, who were seeking damages of more than €120m, have already received £5.75m (around €7m) in an amicable settlement of another financial dispute and are expected to receive a further £7m from a deal with a broker insurance. The FIFA Player’s Committee didn’t think so, however, and had decided to charge the amount corresponding to the first installment of the transfer.
What had happened
The long legal battle between Nantes and Cardiff City after the tragic death of Argentine striker Emiliano Sala. The two clubs have been engaged in a dispute since 2019, the year of the plane crash involving Sala. Then twenty-eight, Sala was about to move to Wales for the sum of 17 million euros. On January 21, 2019, while he was flying to Great Britain to sign the contract with his new club aboard a private plane, the aircraft crashed into the English Channel, near the island of Guernsey.
