Luciano Moggiformer sporting director of Naplesin the interview he gave to TMWspoke about the Scudetto fight: “For me, Conte’s team and Inter will play for it. Atalanta would be there, but sometimes it favors different decisions. They are lucky enough to have a coach who is a safe and who allows them to sell players well, collect money and then surpass those who buy them. If they had maintained everything that the Dea had produced, they would be a great team undermined Maldini’s sporting credibility and in Bergamo he is one of the best, Retegui was a decent striker in Genoa, he became top scorer at Atalanta, it’s an important job, those two know football inside out.”
How do you evaluate the controversies between Conte, De Laurentiis and Marotta?
“This is the spice of football, everyone has their own say. Conte pointed out a problem that really exists and he did it when the opponent missed the penalty, it’s a warning to everyone. It would have been different to say it after a goal. VAR is a subjective machine: it is objective for offside, even if you can often barely see the line when the ball goes off, but it is therefore drawn… But it is subjective because the intensity is assessed by the referee, VAR is a little deficient because sometimes it can’t intervene, sometimes it doesn’t save many situations. Some presidents said that with VAR Juve would no longer win, but with an evil intent. Juve won because they had ideas and today in fact all the best coaches are from the Juventus school. The problem that arises is not one of opportunity, but some exaggerate in talking about VAR and they are precisely the ones who blessed it. Football would not have followed without controversy. but I agree with Rocchi when he asks not to do it: my assessment on VAR is 70% positive, 30% negative.”
