FIGC visits the AIRC Foundation Molecular Oncology Institute, Gravina: “We support research”

This afternoon a FIGC delegation composed of the president Gabriele Gravinaby the general secretary Marco Brunelli and by the head of the national delegation Gianluigi Buffon visited IFOM, the Institute of Molecular Oncology of the AIRC Foundation, adding a further piece to the twenty-year partnership between the two organizations.

The delegation, welcomed and accompanied by the AIRC president Andrea Sironi, the IFOM president Giovanni Azzone, the AIRC delegate councilor Daniele Finocchiaro and the IFOM CEO Enrico De Santis, was able to experience first-hand the concreteness of support for cancer research in dialogue with the director IFOM scientist Alberto Bardelli and some researchers during the visit to the laboratories. AIRC carries out oncology scientific research activities also making use of the structures of IFOM, the Institute of Molecular Oncology created in 1998 by the Foundation, a center of international excellence where human and technological resources are concentrated on the study of the formation and development of tumors.

The Nations League match between Italy and France, scheduled for Sunday 17 November at the ‘Giuseppe Meazza’ Stadium in Milan, will close ‘A Goal for Research’, the AIRC Foundation campaign dedicated to football fans promoted in collaboration with FIGC, Lega Serie A, Enilive and AIA. The Azzurri take up the baton from the players of the Enilive Serie A Championship, who took to the field for AIRC last weekend. During the live broadcast of the match on Rai1, RaiSport journalists will invite viewers to donate to support 6,000 researchers working in the laboratories of over one hundred institutions across the country to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. This year the AIRC team has an even more competitive lineup led by Gianluigi Buffon, the first to wear the new shirt with the AIRC Foundation’s research colors and by ambassadors Francesco Acerbi, Lorenzo De Silvestri, Valentina Giacinti and Claudio Marchisio.
