“Lucumì is a very interesting player who has grown a lot in the last two years. He has explosiveness and speed, I’m not surprised that Juve might like him. I think he’s an excellent addition to shore up a defense decimated by injuries.” Massimo Carrerawho as a central defender with Juventus won everything between 1991 and 1996 (Scudetto, Champions League, Italian Cup, UEFA Cup and Italian Super Cup): “Motta knows him well – underlines Carrera to Tuttosport – and having already trained represents an advantage, because the insertion times are shortened. Furthermore, he is left-footed and this characteristic is missing in Juventus central defenders today.”
Juve also follows other profiles such as Ortiz, Lindelof, Ismajli, Dragusine Kiwior.
“All excellent players, but for a foreigner to reach the halfway point of the season is complicated. I would focus on those who already know our football and Motta’s ideas. This is why Lucumì represents the most suitable profile.”
How do you rate Juventus’ season so far at almost a third of the championship?
“They have changed and rejuvenated a lot, I’m liking Motta’s work. The ranking is very short and they’re all stuck there. Juve can have their say until the end for first place. The Bianconeri still have ample room for growth.”
