Borussia Dortmund? No thank you. Schmidt: “I’m not interested in a new team”

The former coach of Bayer Leverkusen and Benfica Roger Schmidt he made it clear that he is not interested in accepting a new position at the moment. Schmidt had been tipped as a possible successor to Nuri Sahin as Borussia Dortmund manager, but the 57-year-old has now ruled himself out of the running. “The newspapers have to be filled every day. When a team has problems, look at which coaches are available. There’s nothing you can do about it,” Schmidt told the Spielmacher podcast.

“Of course, you are always happy to be appreciated. When someone thinks of entrusting you with a team, it is always a very positive thing. But I have made a very clear decision: I will not do anything now,” Schmidt said, adding that “under no circumstances will he take taking charge of a new team” this season.
