Ibrahima Konate confirmed that he had received a renewal offer from the Liverpool. The 25-year-old French defender’s contract will expire in just over a year (June 2026) and there are several ongoing speculations about his future, for this reason, on the eve of the Champions League match against Lille, he wanted to clarify the situation.
Arrived from Leipzig for 40 million euros in the summer of 2021, he has made 112 appearances so far for the Redsbut ended up in the infirmary for more than a month (precisely six weeks) due to a knee injury. Yet as soon as he regained his form Konate returned to the center of Liverpool’s starting defence, alongside captain Van Dijk and by order of Arne Slot, manager in chief.
However, when asked about his future, Konaté admitted that his too negotiations are not yet close to a solution: “Who spoke about it a few months ago? The club didn’t say anything, I didn’t say anything. It was only one person who said it. I wasn’t ready, I didn’t know when he said it. But then, I spoke to the club. I think now I’m really focused on what happens now. We’ll see what happens. I’ve been offered a renewal? This case could add to the other problems at Liverpool regarding the renewals of Van Dijk, Salah and Alexander-Arnold who are still absent.
