Last at home for Bologna in the Champions League. Italian: “A journey that gave great ideas to everyone”

On the eve of the challenge of Champions League against the Borussia DortmundBologna’s last home match in the “Championship phase” of the top European competition, the rossoblù coach Vincenzo Italiano also spoke to Sky Sports after the usual press conference: “What has the Champions League taught us so far? For me a lot, it’s a journey that has given everyone great ideas. We’ve been around big stages with strong opponents and a very high pace. This has given us some level performance in the championship: we brought this experience back and allowed us to gain points. Tomorrow we will try to put a strong opponent in difficulty, even if they come from a few defeats. They are fast and very dangerous, tomorrow is the last one at home and we want unlock the zero wins box”.

Bologna is first in terms of pressure intensity in Italy and third in Europe
“This is an important fact, it makes us understand that what we propose gives results and satisfaction. I think it needs to be explored further and we also worked on it this morning. We can improve, but it’s an aspect of ours and we’re looking for it. He’s bringing us a few goals. If we had to work well, we can create some dangerous opportunities and let’s try to take advantage of their latest uncertainties.”

Do you have any regrets about the start of the season?
“I would have liked to have the physical and mental condition I have now, the self-esteem, the awareness but also the attackers who have unlocked themselves, the compactness… It’s all part of a process, it’s a shame that the improvements have arrived in the last period. We want have our say in the last two games.”

How much do you regret not having had this Bologna sooner?
“We have paid for some difficulties, injuries, those who were in poor condition as well as Ferguson who had just returned. Now everything is different also on an environmental level, the results are there and we work more serenely after the victories. But already tomorrow we can give the first victory in the Champions League, which gives me shivers. We must try to take this step.”
