The director of Corriere dello Sport, Ivan Zazzaronicommented on the draw – yet another – obtained by Juventus yesterday against Torino, in a derby which condemned the Bianconeri and their coach Thiago Motta to be the target of new criticism from fans and the press.
Here are his considerations, starting from the numbers: “Juve never loses, but wins little: 12 draws and 7 wins in 19 games would have been fine until May ’93, when the victory was still worth two points. Thirty-two years later they constitute an unsatisfactory haul for those who have high ambitions: at this point – and not for the sake of paradox – 5 wins and 7 defeats are better. I haven’t seen a bad derby, but any derby between teams with little quality. The best things were done by Yildiz and Mbangula, aged 19 and 21, and I’ve said it all. Vanoli got a more than acceptable performance from his team, especially in terms of commitment, attention and sacrifice.”
Positive aspects? Very few for the Bianconeri: “Juve had two phases of superiority: in the first quarter of an hour – Kenan’s opening goal was beautiful, like Del Piero – and, from 55′ to 85′, but overall they created little The absences (Vlahovic’s was heavy, this time the Turkish talent did not make Conceicao regret), some delays in condition (Koop, Nico, Cambiaso, entered at the end), Douglas Luiz blond to be recognized and very few risks for Di Gregorio: that’s all Juventus, seeing them play, I thought about what their room for growth could be: to make it a team worthy of the name it bears, at least three additions of a decidedly superior level would be needed.”
