Who is Billing, the new Napoli midfielder. A giant insertion for Conte

A new reinforcement is arriving in midfield for Napoli, who are about to give their coach Antonio Conte the Danish international Philip Billing (26 years old), arriving from Bournemouth on loan with the right to buy between 9 and 10 million euros and the salary until June 2025 which will be covered entirely by the blue club.

But who is Billing? We are certainly not talking about a top player in his role, but one with certainly very specific characteristics. Billing in the Premier League has been appreciated for his aerial skills (he has a height of 193cm), the ability to play in multiple roles in midfield, in front of the defense with defensive and interdiction skills or in support of the attack showing great ability to ‘insertion, what Conte is asking a lot of his current midfielders. In his last match as a starter against Fulham he acted as an attacking midfielder in the 4-2-3-1.

The stages in Billing’s career. From Esbjerg he moved to the Huddersfield youth team with which he also made his first team debut. The good performances earned him a move to Bournemouth for 15 million pounds where he was very regular for five seasons (three of these in the Premier League). In particular, he reached 7 goals in the 2022-23 Premier League while in the current season he made 10 appearances (skipping much of the start of the season after the missed farewell) with the clear desire to leave to take on new challenges.
