Vlahovic, future in the balance and fluctuating performance. Who’s to blame? Word to the commentators

TMW Radio

The case relating to the renewal of Dusan Vlahovic is back in the news, which will not arrive, at least for the moment. Juventus could therefore sell him in the summer, given that this season he is not performing according to expectations, perhaps also due to a feeling with Thiago Motta that has never fully blossomed. The commentators of TMW Radio spoke about this, siding either on the Serbian’s side or on that of the coach.

Stefano Impallomeni: “The role of the coach today is also that of understanding the player and being flexible. Vlahovic is one thing and you can’t think of having another player. And therefore you have to work on him. For me it’s Motta’s fault, he can improve but the Serbian knows how to score goals. You can’t think of having Zirkzee, the player feels certain things.”

Massimo Paganin: “I’m with Motta. Last year he had a different striker, he has to work on it with Vlahovic and he’s on the player’s growth path. He still has to find his dimension, Motta wants to stimulate the player and now it’s up to him to work on himself to make the leap in quality.”

Arturo Di Napoli: “For me Vlahovic is a good player but he’s not worth all the money spent by Juve. I’m with Motta and I would go and get another striker, a real champion makes the difference in certain moments and he doesn’t.”

Paolo Ghisoni: “It reminds me a bit of Icardi’s story at Inter. Vlahovic doesn’t have the status that the Argentine had, he feels too much responsibility, others say he needs to be given more responsibility. For me, we’re trying to understand what kind of it’s done, but he’s turning 25 now. Today I’m with Motta though.”

Domenico Marocchino: “There are two types of attackers, those who play in the defense and those who need the team, the Serbian is of the latter type. If you have Vlahovic you have to play for him, because Vlahovic doesn’t play for you. He’s selfish , a robber, plays on the defenders’ time. I would think about it before sending him away, however, it must be the midfield, which is too static doesn’t it go to three and stay with two to do interdiction?”.

Stefano Salandin: “It’s right to shift attention to the player rather than the coach. Vlahovic is a problem, he touches half the balls in the area compared to what he did with Allegri. The problem is Vlahovic, if you tell him to make supports and stop the ball he’s not in the its strings”.

Stefano Discreti: “I’m on Vlahovic’s side. If you want to play with a player who makes your team go up, you don’t play with him because he’s another type of attacker. This Juve with the 4-3-3 would fly, given the men they have I still don’t understand how it is possible that there are still fundamentalist coaches who think of only one formation. The problem is not just Vlahovic but the 4-2-3-1.”

Gigi Cagni: “Vlahovic is right. The skill of the coach, having players with poor personalities, is to make them perform at their best. Conceicao at Milan, for example, got into the heads and hearts of the players, he didn’t change tactics or anything else. He Vlahovic’s qualities but you can’t ask him for certain things. You have to find a game that can make him perform better also on a mental level.”

Jeda: “The blame must be shared. The coach must be good at putting him in a position to make him perform at his best, but even the attacker is not yet ready in terms of personality and quality for a team like Juventus.”
