Palermo starts again from Carlo Osti. The new Rosanero sporting director was presented to the public yesterday with enthusiasm and determination: “When I received the phone call from Gardini, with whom I had worked in Treviso, I immediately said yes. I like the team even though it is obviously in a moment of difficulties, and one of my first commitments is to understand the reasons for the involution. We will do the math at the end”, declared Osti in the press conference.
Among the first topics addressed is the market, still in the evaluation phase: “I arrived three days ago and it’s too early to understand where to intervene. I spoke with all the players, starting with Brunori. I had a sincere chat with him in which we analyzed his situation. In my opinion the boy is reassured and I told him asked to take back the captain’s armband. He gave me maximum availability. I think that the strong players need to be motivated: Brunori represents an added value, it is right that he is exploited as such.”
CEO Giovanni Gardini also took the floor, explaining the recent management choices: “We are disappointed by the results and after a careful analysis we have decided to change the sporting direction. We thank De Sanctis and Migliaccio. The management had been in difficulty and there wasn’t the support we expected when the team encountered critical issues. There are no culprits or scapegoats, but we are here to make decisions for the good of Palermo, who must be protagonists in Serie. B. We haven’t changed the coach because the team follows Dionisi and has never played against him. The coach is good, capable and feels the shirt on him. We are not competitive for the goal at the beginning of the season, I say it honestly, but we can be that again.”
