As the club makes known through the note which we reproduce in full below, Como Women’s first match of 2025 against French side Olympique Marseille ended 3-1. The friendly match, played at the sports center of the Como club, the Sport Village of Cislago (VA), was broadcast exclusively and live globally on the DAZN platform and on the DAZN Women Football YouTube channels, with an innovative and never seen before on the women’s football scene. Stefano Sottili’s girls controlled the match against Frédéric Gonçalves’ team, prevailing with a clear result thanks to goals from Bolden, Karlernäs and Del Estal, all scored in the first half. In the second half, the scoring came in the 67th minute with Leger, who scored the French team’s only goal.
The friendly match was an opportunity for FC Como Women to officially present the new shirt which marks the beginning of the collaboration with WeAre8main sponsor of the club, and which kicks off a new phase of growth and professionalization. The CEO & Founder of the company Zoe Kalar then commented: “It was magical to present the shirt together with the players: a unique and exciting way for me to start 2025. I fell in love with the club and the players, initially from afar, but then knowing them directly I realized that the technology we have developed has the power to concretely support them, to transform the way in which the world sees them and to open up new audience and economic growth opportunities for them. The idea that a small group of women, with the right energy and the right context, has the power to truly inspire others and change the world is what I believe. And that’s why our technology and social platform were created: to serve and support this vision ”.
Not only that. The main commentator, Victoire Cogevina Reynal, CEO & Founder of Mercury/13, led this new experience of telling the match, bringing to light the stories of the players and the club, enriching the narrative with anecdotes and details that brought the audience closer only to the emotions of the game, but also to the personal stories of the girls on the pitch. Supporting Victoire during the match were exceptional guests who contributed to making this story unique, including Dominika Skorvankova, midfielder of Como Women, Lucia Lobato, defender of OM, Elena Mirandola, CEO of Como Women and Stefano Petruzzo, CEO of the French club.
And Mirandola himself spoke thus: “The idea of this sui generis broadcast was born from our desire to talk about women’s football from a very human and genuine perspective. Recent research by Deloitte highlights that among the younger generations, who are even those most interested in women’s football, a particular attention to the daily life of athletes and clubs emerges, so we thought we’d take the leap and test a format that responds precisely to this new trend. What happens on the day of the match is the result of a lot work, and we believe it is important to highlight behind the scenes.”
“It was exciting to commentate on a match for the first time. I think this new format can work. People are curious about our lives as athletes and this can bring more interest to the entire women’s movement,” Skorvankova said post-match.
Reynal concluded: “We believe storytelling is the key to transforming commentary and engaging new audiences with excitement. These players have stories that people want to know, and, once discovered, feel more invested in their success. Today was about to present the protagonists of our history: a small independent team facing the giants of football, holding their own with determination. Welcome to a new era of women’s football!
