Tonight Juve-Milan counts as the Super Cup final with Inter, Vaciago: “Winning? It counts!”

Guido Vaciagofor his background this morning on Tuttosportstarts from Thiago Motta’s declaration according to which winning is not an obsession and says: “The concept is impeccable and reasonable, but it’s damned un-Juventus. And, more generally, not like a great team.
Juventus has been traveling with the Bonipertian philosophy for decades. And not the distorted one of the slogan of «winning is the only thing that counts» (which wasn’t even Boniperti’s), but that of «Winning is not everything, but the will to win is». And, in this sense, victory must be an obsession.”

On this evening’s match: “Juventus, this Juventus, needs a heroic feat to win the Super Cup, considering the circumstances and conditions in which they came to the match. A bit like Milan who will challenge tonight in the most glamorous semi-final due to the history of the clubs and less sparkling due to the form of the two teams. United by a change of coach in the summer, Juventus and Milan have experienced the travails of change and the difficulties of starting a project from scratch or almost and the most striking proof is the presence of Sergio Conceiçao in place of Fonseca on the Milan bench, but they have the same damned goal for the end of the season: to place in the top four to go to the Champions League next season (and maybe go further ahead possible in this season’s Champions League.”

In closing: “We need points of reference, a map with which to orient ourselves in the project, understand where we are at and, perhaps, how much time we still need. We have all (or almost all) intuited that there is some good in it, the rest depends on I struggle to understand it. Maybe it would be enough to explain it a little better. Or win, the medicine that cures every obsession.”
