A shorter than expected adventure for Issa Kaboré. The 23-year-old right-back of the Burkinabé national team leaves Benfica and returns to Manchester City after the early termination of his loan. The decision, taken by mutual agreement between the two clubs, took place in conjunction with the opening of the winter transfer window. Kaboré, who arrived at Benfica for the current season, has played only 7 games, 2 of which as a starter, for a total of 193 minutes of play.
According to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, the player did not participate in Wednesday’s training session at Seixal and is now waiting to find out his future from Manchester City, who will decide his next destination. His time at Benfica was marked by poor use, particularly in the Champions League and Portuguese Cup. The future of the former Marseille player remains uncertain, pending the decisions of the English club.
Born in 2001, Kaboré arrived in Europe in 2019 to wear the Mechelen shirt. City noticed him immediately and brought him to England a year later, leaving him on loan to the Belgians. He also played, always on loan and with good performance, with Troyes, Marseille and Luton but never with the club that owns his card.
